Summary

From the basics of physics to big questions about the nature of space and time, celebrated astrophysicist and science communicator Neil deGrasse Tyson breaks down the mysteries of the cosmos into bite-sized pieces。 Astrophysics for Young People in a Hurry describes the fundamental rules and unknowns of our universe clearly—and with Tyson’s characteristic wit, there’s a lot of fun thrown in, too。

This adaptation by Gregory Mone includes full-color photos, infographics, and extra explanations to make even the trickiest concepts accessible。 Building on the wonder inspired by outer space, Astrophysics for Young People in a Hurry introduces an exciting field and the principles of scientific inquiry to young readers。

I listened to this and loved that it was narrated by LeVar Burton。Science has never been my strong suit so this was fun to remember things I learned in hs/college in a different voice and setting。

Creo que sera mi libro favorito del 2021😍。。fascinating🤗

Just finished reading this book and fell in love with it。 No book has ever explained hard things about the universe in such a simple and interesting way。 I found out so many new things in this book and I love how simple everything is explained。 Such a hard theme in such easy words! It became one of my favourite books ever!

Read this with my fourth grader。 Absolutely great! Tyson did a fantastic job explaining astrophysics in a simple, yet fun, way for children (and adults)。 Highly recommend this one!

Brilliantly written and engaging introduction to astrophysics。 I bought this for my daughter who is learning about bit is school and wanted a bit more information, but I thought I’d have a read of it myself first and I was really impressed。 It was a really good introduction to the subject。 There was enough information to whet the appetite but without it becoming confusing。 The illustrations were beautiful and complemented but didn’t overwhelm the text。The glossary at the back was very helpful to Brilliantly written and engaging introduction to astrophysics。 I bought this for my daughter who is learning about bit is school and wanted a bit more information, but I thought I’d have a read of it myself first and I was really impressed。 It was a really good introduction to the subject。 There was enough information to whet the appetite but without it becoming confusing。 The illustrations were beautiful and complemented but didn’t overwhelm the text。The glossary at the back was very helpful too。Would definitely recommend this for a beginner who is interested in learning about astrophysics。 I will be buying ‘Astrophysics For People in a Hurry’ for myself I think! 。。。more

Me encantó leer este libro。 Es un libro de divulgación para adolescentes, pero el lenguaje es tan claro y los conceptos tan interesantes que ya no pude soltarlo hasta terminarlo。 Me despertó la curiosidad por leer tantos libros más del tema。

The title says it all! I listened to this book whenever I was in the car with my 13 year old son。 We had some real interesting conversations as a result。 If I were to sum up this book in a sentence it would be: Neil Degrasse Tyson sums up astrophysics in the form of dad jokes。

Fantastic astrophysics book for 8-12 year olds (and even adults)

I listened to this with my kids and we all really enjoyed it。 Lavar Burton reads the audiobook and he does a fantastic job。 I’ve read the adult version before and taken physics classes in college, but still some of this was over my head。 Still, it’s a very interesting read。 The thing I liked most about it was Neil Tyson’s ability to convey a sense of wonder about the universe

Erika Gomes

This is a simple version of Astrophysics。 Great reading by LeVar Burton。

Jessica

Nope。 Not sure why this was picked as a nominee for the VGDA? Some outdated references, poor layout of pop outs and just a very scattered feel to the information。

⭐️🪐 We are all made of stardust! 🌞🌏Um。。。for young people? How about adults too? Some of the concepts still went over my head。

I'm not quite sure what age(young people) it is aimed at。 Great in the majority, but fleeting moments of too much scientific depth again depending on what age it's aimed it。 and that the only reason it didn't get 5*。 I would think a great quick inspirational book for young people to get into science, and a general overall history of astrophysics。 Well done Neil for making it sound fun and interesting and intriguing for young readers。 I'm not quite sure what age(young people) it is aimed at。 Great in the majority, but fleeting moments of too much scientific depth again depending on what age it's aimed it。 and that the only reason it didn't get 5*。 I would think a great quick inspirational book for young people to get into science, and a general overall history of astrophysics。 Well done Neil for making it sound fun and interesting and intriguing for young readers。 。。。more

I’ve read the adult version of this book。 This one I read to my son who is extremely interested in space。 He likes Neil Degrasse Tyson, having watched Cosmos, and will listen to anything he has to say。 We’ve read some of this before in other space books, but this one is arranged clearly, there’s some humor and I liked that it wasn’t dumbed down just because it wasn’t for adults。 That said, I liked some of the non astrophysics related things he made sure to mention。 That science is not absolute, I’ve read the adult version of this book。 This one I read to my son who is extremely interested in space。 He likes Neil Degrasse Tyson, having watched Cosmos, and will listen to anything he has to say。 We’ve read some of this before in other space books, but this one is arranged clearly, there’s some humor and I liked that it wasn’t dumbed down just because it wasn’t for adults。 That said, I liked some of the non astrophysics related things he made sure to mention。 That science is not absolute, that everyone makes mistakes and that part of being a scientist is to know that you will make mistakes, that the Cosmos and the vastness of the universe shouldn’t make you feel depressed, that the minute you think you know everything is the minute you begin to shrink as a person。 These are things that I have constantly told my child, but mom saying these and Neil Degrasse Tyson saying these is different。 So I’m grateful these are included in the book。 。。。more

Kudos to Neil deGrasse Tyson for making the complexities of the universe a little easier to understand。 It is clever。 It is witty。 It is engaging。 I simply did not want to stop reading。

I decided this would be a fun and easy one。。。after all, it is “for young people” and I am a 38 year old university graduate who appreciates ongoing education。 Yea, no。。。haha it was not an easy read but it was an enjoyable challenge。 Multiple parts blew my mind, others stretched me to really understand。

My 7 year old son is obsessed with space and I bought this for him as a Christmas gift。 We read it each night and it fascinated him and increased his thirst for knowledge about the cosmos。 Although he enjoyed it, it is probably more suited for middle grades and up。

Esta divertido pero básico, como bien dice es para chicos apurados y explica cómo se formó el universo sin meterse en muchos tecnicismos, está bueno aunque tal vez lo recomendaría más para personas entre 13-17 años algo así。 [Audiolibro]

My library had the “young people” version of Tyson’s book, but it absolutely didn’t matter because the contents are interesting for children, teens, and adults alike。 Filled with just the kind of facts I love and delivered with passion and charm。 Also, thanks to this I have a new favourite astronomer, and his name is Tycho Brahe 🏰🥸
